Imagination requires absence.
– Jean-Luc Nancy

There I am—breathing
With such a vulnerable smile

& you in the background
Inserting yourself into
My very once-had-been—See?

You’re the invisible one
With your palms upon my
Ganglionic shoulders

Laying hands on me—

Praying we’ll both be brave
